How This IEM Rig Works
This rig is designed for two main scenarios: Live Performance (splitting signals) and Live Recording (multi-tracking).
1. For Bands: The "Self-Contained" Monitor Setup
Use this setup when you want consistent in-ear monitoring at every venue without affecting the house sound.
- Step 1: Plug In (The Split): Connect all your microphones and instruments into the 16-Channel Splitter on the rear of the rack.
- Step 2: Signal Split:
- Cable Snake A (To FOH): Connects to the venue's Stage Box/Mixer. The sound engineer gets a clean, raw signal to mix for the audience.
- Cable Snake B (To Rig) (Already pre-connected in the rack): Feeds into the Allen & Heath CQ-20B inside the rack to create your monitor mixes.
- Step 3: Listen:
- Wireless: Grab one of the 4 Wireless Bodypacks (configured as Stereo or Mono mixes).
- Wired: Use the Master L/R outputs with the included Behringer Powerplay P1 (wired mix ideal for drummers or keyboardists).
- Step 4: Control: Each musician connects to the mixer via WiFi and adjusts their own mix using the CQ4You App on their smartphone.
2. For Engineers: The Live Recording Solution
Use this setup to capture a professional multi-track recording of a live show.
- Step 1: Input: Connect the band's mics and instruments directly to the rig (or via the splitter).
- Step 2: Recording Setup: Connect your laptop to the CQ-20B's USB-B port OR insert an SD Card into the mixer's slot.
- Step 3: Capture: Record up to 24 separate channels directly into your DAW (via USB) or straight onto the SD card (standalone).
- Step 4: Zero-Latency Monitoring: While you record, the band can still use the wireless/wired outputs to hear themselves with zero latency.
